I don’t know if Linda knew when she sent me this photo with her wedding invitation that I intended to post it on my blog.
But I did. Twice.
Linda and Eric are one of my very favorite stories. Designing their wedding invitation was truly a labor of love. And almost a love while in labor as their wedding date was the same as my baby’s due date.
Linda is from Colorado. Eric is from Utah (my hometown actually, and somewhere in my parent’s basement is a great awkward photo of the two of us in the same prom group.) The two decided to have a destination wedding in Historic Nauvoo, Illinois, in the gorgeous Nauvoo LDS Temple. Linda wanted an invitation that illustrated this using her bright and fun color palette. Eric just didn’t want it to look too girly.
I created graphics for each state and an emblem with an outline of the Nauvoo Temple. I paired a sleek and modern typeface with a clean slab serif to add some vintage charm.
The vellum overlay featured a graphic of the US with an adorable L (loves) E monogram which helped illustrated a couple whose life stories extend across the nation. They are a couple who loves to travel and even took an epic road trip for their honeymoon covering 15 states! The reverse of each item in the invitation suite was printed with this cute prairie grass pattern in a different color – a nod to the pioneer past of the city of Nauvoo.
And although these two are a stunning couple even while making pig nose faces, here’s a shot that better illustrates their true beauty.
